WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – One person is facing charges after a multi vehicle crash in Williamson County.
On December 6 around 3:45pm, two vehicles collided head on on IL Route 37 near Maxine Lane causing significant damage.
The driver of a 2015 Gold Chevrolet, Joshua Jessie, was traveling northbound towards a school bus in the southbound lane of traffic.
Jessie returned his vehicle to the correct lane of travel, over corrected, and struck the side of the school bus.
Jessie then continued traveling northbound in the southbound lane crashing head-on into another passenger vehicle.
The drivers of both passenger vehicles were taken to the hospital with serious injuries but have been reported to be in stable condition.
Jessie was cited for Aggravated DUI – Drug, Possession of Adult Use Cannabis in Motor Vehicle, Improper Lane Usage, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, No Seat Belt, and Operating an Uninsured Vehicle.
The bus carrying approximately 27 students received minor damage and there were no reported student injuries.
Jessie was not taken into custody due to his medical injuries and current hospitalization.
