CARBONDALE, Ill. – Southern Illinois University softball head coach Jen Sewell has announced the eight team captains for the 2025 season.
Sewell named Emma Austin, Addi Baker, Anna Carder, Erin Lee, Jackie Lis, Alexis Rudd, Chloe Scroggins, and Haley Wilkerson as the team’s captains.
“We are excited to announce these eight captains as we head into the competitive portion of our fall season,” Sewell said. “These student-athletes represent the best of what Saluki Softball stands for. We don’t have very many rules and regulations – you won’t find a 30-page handbook on how to operate within our program. But what you will hear a lot of is what are the required standards to be a part of this club.”
The group is made up of five juniors and three seniors.
“We turned over a huge class of seniors last season and it’s important to transition our leadership to this new squad,” Sewell said. “This is their team with their personality and their goals – but the standards remain the same – it’s excellence in everything. They are all that is good about Saluki Softball and our coaching staff is eager to watch them lead this team back to the top.”
Southern Illinois won both the Missouri Valley Conference regular season and tournament in 2024, after also winning the tournament in 2023.
