A report on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Monday indicated the SIU men’s basketball team has scheduled a game against the University of Florida as part of the 2024-25 non-conference schedule.  The game will reportedly guarantee $70,000 to SIU.

Scheduling News:

Florida will host Southern Illinois on Friday November 22nd as part of its 2024-25 non-conference schedule.

This is a buy game with a $70,000 guarantee.

The Salukis have never played Florida in program history.  The Gators finished the 2023-24 season with a 24-12 record. losing to Colorado in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament 102-100.

SIU Athletics provided no comment when asked for confirmation on the game.

The Salukis begin the season on November 4 at South Dakota State’s Sanford Pentagon when they face the College of Charleston in the Field of 68 Opening Day Showcase.
