A Day for Spinal Cord Injuries & Conditions Impairing Mobility

June 8 @ 9:30 am - 4:30 pm

The Illinois chapter of the United Spinal Association is hosting a free event in Carbondale to discuss issues that individuals with differing mobility impairments face daily. Many of the subjects discussed will be relevant to multiple disabilities, and everyone interested in learning more about these issues is welcome (including family/caregivers). Remote attendance is possible.  (Once people register, a Zoom link will be sent to anyone electing to attend remotely.) Lunch will be provided.
The event will include speakers on vocational rehabilitation (preparing for/obtaining employment, ADA protections, etc.), service dogs (SIT Service Dogs),  wound care, adaptive driving and accessible parking, bladder care/medical complications, recreation and sport (Touch of Nature), and a panel discussion about living with a disability.  We will also have a speaker from the SI Center for Independent Living.
