CARBONDALE, Ill. — Tomáš Peciar of the Southern Illinois Swimming and Diving team will be competing this week in the World Aquatics Championships in Doha, Qatar. Peciar will be representing his home country of Slovakia.
The World Aquatics Championships began on Feb. 2 with diving and will end on Feb. 18th with swimming. World Aquatics was formerly known as Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA). World Aquatics is the sole governing body of aquatic sports including, swimming, water polo, diving, high diving, open water swimming and artistic swimming.
Tomáš Peciar will be competing in the Open Water men’s 5K on Wednesday Feb. 7th, the competition begins at 1 p.m. AST (Arabian Standard Time) or 4 a.m. CT. As well as the mixed 4×1500 meter swim on Thursday Feb. 8th at 1:30 a.m. CT.
