Round Two of the IHSA Football Playoffs has come to a close for all area teams.  Here’s a look at the final scores and the quarterfinal matchups for area teams that advanced:

 

1A:

#2 Sesser-Valier-Waltonville defeats #7 Salt Fork 32-8

Dez Malone breaks the school’s single-season rushing record on his final touch of the game in a rout over Salt Fork.

2A:

#8 Nashville defeats #16 Quincy (Notre Dame) 27-18

The Hornets keep on rolling with a potent offensive attack over Quincy.

Next: #8 Nashville (8-3) hosts to #4 Athens (9-2) Saturday, November 11, 1PM

 

#4 Athens defeats #5 Red Bud 34-14

A close game at halftime got out of hand in the second half as the Musketeers season comes to an end at 8-3.

 

#11 Breese Mater Dei defeats#3 Johnston City 27-18

A pair of quick scores at the end by the Knights brought an end to Johnston City’s season.  Indians finish 9-2.

 

3A:

#4 Mt. Carmel defeats #5 Sullivan-Okaw Valley 42-21

The Golden Aces double up Sullivan to advance to the quarterfinals.

#9 Tolono (Unity) defeats #1 Du Quoin 35-25

The top-seeded Indians fall at storied Tolono (Unity) in a game that the Rockets blasted off in, in the second half.  Du Quoin finishes the year 10-1

 

4A:

#11 Harrisburg defeats #14 Peoria (Notre Dame) 27-22

The Bulldogs led a majority of the game and answered the Fightin Irish late when the lead had been wrestled from them, to take the lead back and eventually win.

#2 Murphysboro defeats #7 Charleston 14-13

The loss of star running back Tyjaire Kellum wasn’t enough to stop the Red Devils from winning a tightly contested matchup with the Trojans.
