Illinois has landed a new electric vehicle manufacturing plant.

Gotion, which makes batteries for companies like Volkswagen, will receive more than $530 million in tax breaks and other incentives for building the new factory in Illinois. The two billion dollar state of the art plant will be built in Manteno. It will make lithium battery packs and cells to power electric buses, trucks, and cars.

The plant is expected to begin production in 2024, creating 2,600 new jobs.
