METROPOLIS, Ill. (WJPF) – One person is dead after a fight at a Massac County truck stop.

Metropolis Police say they were called Acee’s Truck Stop at about 10:40 p.m. Tuesday for a fight in progress.  They say Jonathon Riley, 36, of Kirksy, Kentucky,  got into a fight with another man in the truck stop’s video gaming room.  Security cameras caught Riley first pepper spray the victim.  Seconds later, Riley is seen knocking the victim to the ground, choking them, and then pressing his knee into the victim’s neck until they passed out.  The victim was later pronounced dead at an area hospital. 

Jonathon Riley was taken to the Massac County Jail on a charge of first degree murder.  The name of the victim has not yet been released, pending family notification.
