Carbondale police have arrested a man from Herrin.

22-year-old Shermarie Barnes was arrested in connection to a shooting in Carbondale in the 800 block of North Marion Street on June 3rd.

After officers found a victim with a non-life threatening gunshot wound, they were taken to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale and then transferred to a St. Louis hospital.

Barnes was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.

The investigation is active and Barnes is incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail.
