CHESTER, Ill. (WJPF) – Transportation officials are taking another look at a plan to replace the Chester Mississippi River Bridge.

They’re reevaluating portions of an environmental assessment done last year, saying the potential impact of replacing the nearly 80-year-old structure will be larger than first thought. Their main area of concern includes the Horse Island Chute. More information from the Missouri Department of Transportation can be found online.

The re-evaluation is expected to be finished in late May.
