CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – A welfare check on a possible missing person led to the discovery of a dead body Tuesday in Carbondale.

Carbondale Police say officers were sent to the home in the 1100 block of East College Street at about 7:50 p.m. Tuesday. They found the resident deceased inside. The cause of death has not yet been determined.

The identity of the victim is being withheld to ensure notification can be made to the next of kin.
