FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) — Two people were cited after a pair of DUI related crashes on Interstate 57 in Franklin County.

It happened just before 2:00 a.m. Sunday near the Sesser exits.

Illinois State Police say Samuel Heintz, 20, of Collinsville was traveling north when he left the road to the right and hit a guardrail. At that same time Makaila Ballard, 24, of Mt. Vernon was traveling north at the same location and swerved to avoid the first crash. She left the road to the left, hitting a guardrail and concrete barrier. Neither driver was injured, buy both were cited for DUI and operating an uninsured vehicle.

Samuel Heintz was also cited for illegal possession of alcohol by a minor.
