CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) — A Carbondale man has been sentenced to 14 ½ years in prison for a June 2019 shooting.

According to the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office, on the afternoon of June 24, Ricky Richardson, 33, went to Carbondale’s Oakland Cemetery where he threatened to shoot one of the cemetery employees. shortly thereafter, Richardson found the employee driving home in their car and fired one shot at the employee at the intersection of the North Bridge and Owens Streets. The shot missed the cemetery employee, but hit a home in the area.

Richardson was arrested a month later in Tennessee. He was convicted in December 2019 of aggravated discharge of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.
