PEORIA COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) — A Peoria County Sheriff’s Deputy has been arrested in connection to a retail theft.

Matthew Hawkins, 47, was taken into custody without incident Wednesday. Illinois State Police are investigating.

Hawkins faces one misdemeanor charge of retail theft, one felony charge of burglary to a commercial business, and one felony charge of official misconduct.
