The City of Marion is one of two possible sites that would create a parking lot for truckers.

During a special meeting Monday, the city council approved a letter of agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation for a $5 million freight mobility and truck parking project.

If selected, the city agreed to contribute $500,000 of TIF district money to buy land near the Hill Avenue exit off Interstate 57.

IDOT will make its site selection this fall.
