MAKANDA, IL. (WJPF) – No injuries were reported in a crash involving an SUV and a train in Jackson County.

It happened around 5:45 PM Friday on Makanda Road in  Makanda.

Sheriff’s Deputies say that 61-year-old Julie Walker stopped at the railroad crossing for a passing train. But after coming to a stop, her SUV began to move forward, and ran into the southbound freight train.

Walker’ vehicle and the crossing gate arms were damaged in the accident.
