SIU men’s basketball received their first verbal commitment for the Class of 2025 on Monday from 3-star guard Luke Walsh.

The 6’2 Walsh is from St. John Vianney in St. Louis.  Walsh led his school to the Missouri state semifinals in the 2023-24 season with a 25-7 record and third place finish.

Walsh averaged 22.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 2.0 steals per game while connecting on 89 3-pointers.  He made 85.9 percent of his free throw attempts.

Walsh broke Vianney’s career scoring record in February.  He averaged 18.5 points with 88 3-pointers his sophomore year and 14.9 points with 102 3-pointers his freshman year.

He had offers from Saint Louis, Missouri State, and SEMO, among others, before ultimately choosing SIU.
