MARION, Ill. (WJPF) — Three correctional officers have been let go from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office after allegations by an inmate of abuse of force.
According to Sheriff Jeff Diederich, on June 28, 2024 now-former Williamson County Jail correctional officer Jeffery Stallings assaulted an inmate in his care. Stallings was terminated and is now facing felony battery and official misconduct charges. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for next month.
After further investigation, two other guards were also let go from their jobs. No additional criminal charges have been announced.
