Former SIU guard Lance Jones signed with the Indiana Pacers shortly after the conclusion of the NBA Draft on Thursday evening. He will join the team for the NBA’s Summer League.
Jones spent four seasons with SIU before transferring to Purdue for his final season of eligibility. At SIU, Jones put together a fantastic career. He finished 12th in points with 1,514 points as a Saluki in 119 games. He rained down 205 3-pointers to rank third in program history behind Shane Hawkins and Kent Williams. His 1.48 steals per game ranks fifth in program history.
Jones started for the Boilermakers team this season that made it to the championship game in the NCAA Tournament before losing to UConn. He averaged 11.7 points for Purdue.
The Indiana Pacers shocked a lot of the NBA this past season, making it as far as the Eastern Conference Finals before being swept by the eventual NBA Champion Boston Celtics.
The NBA Summer League is an annual off-season event for all 30 NBA teams in Las Vegas. It provides an opportunity for rookies, second-year players, and undrafted prospects to showcase their skills and potentially earn a training camp invite.
This year’s Summer League takes place from Friday, July 12 to Monday, July 22.
