AVA, Ill. (WJPF) – A woman has been sent to the hospital after a vehicle crash in Ava.

On Thursday June 6 around 9:30pm, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 4 and Inman Road.

A silver Ford Explorer driven by 71 year old Joy Kiehna of Steelville, was at the marked stop intersection of Inman Road and Highway 4. Kiehna pulled her vehicle onto Highway 4 and into the path of a black GMC truck traveling southbound, driven by 18 year old Tyler Fowlkes of Pinckneyville.

Kiehna was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non life threatening injuries. Fowlkes and his two passengers sustained no injuries.
