CARBONDALE, Ill. – Southern Illinois men’s basketball head coach Scott Nagy announced the addition of local guard Isaac Billington to his 2024-25 roster on Friday. Billington comes to SIU after four years at Benton High School.
“We love having Isaac on the team and in his first week with us he’s already earned everybody’s respect,” Nagy said. “He’s tough, he plays hard, and he’s just the perfect match for what we need in a point guard.”
Billington helped lead Benton to a 33-4 overall record and a 9-0 mark in conference play as the Rangers made it to the IHSA State Championship game, falling to Phillips. He averaged 15 points, four assists, and three rebounds per game for the Rangers during his senior season.
Over his four years at Benton, Billington surpassed the 1,000-point mark, finishing with 1,068 in his career. He earned Second Team All-State, was named All-Conference and All-State twice, and was selected to six All-Tournament Teams over his career. He was also selected to the SICA and IBCA All-Star Teams in 2024.
A multi-sport student-athlete, Billington earned All-Conference honors on the baseball diamond in 2023 while also being a member of the National Honor Society and earning High Honor Roll accolades in the classroom.
Billington joins guards Drew Steffe, Damien Mayo Jr., Davion Sykes, Tyler Bey, Ali Dibba, and Elijah Elliott as well as forwards Jaheem Webber, Rolyns Aligbe, Jorge Moreno, and Antwaun Massey in the recruiting cycle.
