MT. VERNON, Ill. (WJPF) – A Mt. Vernon man is facing charges for child abuse and child pornography.

On March 27th, The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in Woodlawn for a report of suspected child abuse involving a 4 year old juvenile.

Multiple interviews led to search warrants of the suspect’s electronics and residence in Mt. Vernon. Findings were then sent to the Jefferson County State’s Attorney’s Office.

An arrest warrant was issued on June 5 for 37 year old Zachary Taylor. On June 6, Taylor was located, arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Jail.

Charges were Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child and Possession of Child Pornography.
