MARION, Ill. (WJPF) – Marion firefighters rescued a person trapped on the second floor of a burning building Wednesday.

Fire Chief Tim Barnett says crews were called to a two story home on East Marion Street around 2:15 a.m. Using ladders on the ground, firefighters rescued the person trapped on the second story.  The fire was under control within 45 minutes.

The person rescued was treated and released from a local hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
