HARRISBURG, Ill. (WJPF) – A Harrisburg man has been accused by federal prosecutors of possessing, manufacturing, and importing unregistered firearms.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Illinois, the charges against Yaroslav Vishnevski, 31, stem from an incident in April in which investigators say they intercepted a package, shipped from China and addressed to Vishnevski, that contained a pair of firearm silencers.
When Illinois State Police and federal law enforcement agents searched Vishnevski’s home in May, they say they found a rifle with another unregistered silencer attached, three 3D printers, suspected 3D-printed silencers, 3D-printed firearm frames and receivers in different stages of manufacturing, and two privately-made, unregistered short-barreled rifles. During the search, law enforcement also found a CNC machine, commonly known as a Ghost Gunner. Ghost Gunner machines are typically used to manufacture firearm receivers to complete production.
Yaroslav Vishnevski has been indicted on 3 counts of receipt or possession of unregistered firearm, 1 count of manufacturing NFA weapon without paying special occupancy tax, 1 count of illegal importation of a firearm, and 1 count of possession of firearm with obliterated serial number.
