CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – When Carbondale’s Poplar Camp Beach at Cedar Lake opens for the season , swimmers may be getting into the water at their own risk.

The City of Carbondale says due to short staffing, they cannot guarantee a life guard will always be on duty.  Signs will be posted at the beach each day telling the public whether or not a trained lifeguard is on site.

Poplar Camp Beach at Cedar Lake opens Friday, May 24, and then is open 7 days a week through Labor Day. Single day admission adult is $2.50.
