CARBONDALE, Ill. – Junior Laniah Randle has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season and in her career.
Randle had a career-week for Southern Illinois, posting back-to-back games with over 30 points on the road at Evansville and Indiana State.
The junior started the week with a 32-point outing at Evansville, which, at the time, was a career-high. Randle shot 10-of-11 at the free throw line and also had four assists, one block, and one steal to go along with the 32 points, which is tied for the fourth most in the Valley this season.
On Saturday, Randle put up 36 points, the third most in a single game in SIU program history and tied for the most in the MVC this season. The Wichita, Kan., native shot 54.5% from the field and also had 11 rebounds and three steals.
This was the junior’s league-leading ninth double-double of the season.
Randle is now tied for first in the conference in scoring, averaging 19.0 points-per-game, and is the only player in the Valley to be top three in both scoring and rebounding (second, 8.8).
Randle and the Salukis will continue their four-game road trip on Thursday at 6 p.m. at Northern Iowa.
