A Benton man has been arrested after threatening a public official.

On Wednesday, February 7, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office received information concerning a threat made to an IL Department of Children and Family Services employee.

The threat was in relation to an ongoing investigation at the agency.

Detectives located the subject of the threat, 33 year old Shawn Gilbreath of Benton.

Gilbreath was  taken to the Franklin County Jail and charged with two counts of Threatening a Public Official.
