Carbondale, Ill. – Saluki softball standout Jackie Lis cracked the D1Softball Preseason Top 100 Player Rankings as the first ever player from Southern to make the list, ranking at No. 92.

Lis is coming off a historic freshman season with the Salukis as she set a total of five SIU records including – single-game home runs (3), single-game RBIs (8), single-season home runs (17), single-season RBIs (57), and single-season total bases (125). She was also named to the First Team All-MVC, All-MVC Tournament Team, NFCA All-Region Second Team, and D1Softball Freshman All-American Team a season ago.

During the Salukis trip to the Utah Regional at the NCAA Tournament, Lis went 4-for-9 with a pair of RBIs and three runs as she helped lead the Dawgs to a total of 18 runs scored against Utah and Baylor.

The Castle, Ind. native had 15 games with multiple RBIs as well as 16 multi-hit games. Lis, who began her collegiate career with a nine-game hitting streak ended the season with a 10-game streak as her and the Salukis look to get off to another hot start in 2024.

Southern will begin its season on Feb. 9, in San Marcos, Texas at the Texas State Tournament. The Salukis will open the year with a doubleheader on Friday, Feb. 9 at 10 AM against former Valley opponent Creighton followed by an afternoon meeting with the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) scheduled for 2:30 PM.
