CARBONDALE Ill. (WJPF) – The Lights Fantastic Parade in downtown Carbondale is happening tonight.

The parade begins at 6:00pm on South Illinois Avenue at Mill Street and travels north on Illinois Avenue around the Town Square on Jackson and Washington Streets.  The parade ends on South Washington Street at East Main Street.

Detours of Main Street, Walnut Street, and Illinois Avenue will begin at 5:00pm and any vehicle remaining at the bagged parking locations or anywhere on the parade route will be towed to the Police Department visitor lot at 501 South Washington Street starting at 4:00 p.m. at no cost to the owner.

Along with the parade, many other activities are happening today.

The SIU Holiday Craft Sale is happening from 10am-4pm at the Student Center, a Cookie Walk from 4pm-6pm in downtown Carbondale, a Hot Cocoa Bar at the Carbondale Civic Center from 4pm-6pm, Letters to Santa at the Old Train Depot from 4pm-6pm and much more.
