CHESTER, Ill. (WJPF) – A groundbreaking ceremony will be held Tuesday, October 31, marking the construction of a new bridge across the Mississippi at Chester.

The span is being named in honor of the late Don Welge, the longtime head of Gilster-Mary Lee who passed away in 2020.

The new bridge is scheduled to be completed by winter of 2026.
