CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – A $150,000 state grant will allow the Carbondale Warming Center to return to 24 hour operations during the upcoming winter months.
Since August, the shelter has been open for only 6 hours during the day. Starting November 15, the shelter will be open around the clock.
The Carbondale Warming Center has served more than 300,000 meals since they opened their doors in 2019. The City of Carbondale provides the building and covers the cost of maintenance to the facility.
