Carterville alum Lucas Hunter is getting his chance as a men’s basketball coach. Hunter was named the head coach of junior college Seminole State College’s men’s basketball coach on Tuesday.
Hunter most recently was at NCAA Division 2 Northeastern State University where he was an assistant coach since 2020. He also worked as an assistant at Rogers State of Claremore and East Central University of Ada.
Hunter earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Southern Illinois University before getting his master’s in sports administration from East Central University.
He takes over a Trojans basketball program that earned their first trip to the NJCAA National Tournament this past season since 2007 under the guidance of Don Tuley, who was in his 10th season as head coach before departing this offseason.
