Thursday night, Du Quoin CUSD #300 held a special meeting and voted to hire Logan Spain as their next head football coach in a 6-1 vote.
Spain has head coaching experience, serving as the head coach of Pinckneyville in the 2021-22 season, when the Panthers went 0-6. The team missed their season-opener against Johnston City due to the spread of the COVID-19 virus and had multiple games scratched from their schedule later in the season due to COVID-19.
Spain also served as an assistant at Du Quoin for six seasons under A.J. Hill and previous head coach Derek Beard. Last season he was an assistant at Sesser-Valier under John Shadowens and Mike Rude.
The Du Quoin native was also hired as a Physical Education teacher at the board meeting.
