SIU freshman Jackie Lis claimed both the Newcomer and Player of the Week awards in the Missouri Valley Conference this past week. Lis hit five home runs and 11 runs batted in last week.
Lis hit several milestones last week, tying the SIU freshman home run record with her first homer of the week at Missouri State last Wednesday before crushing it with a pair more home runs – which set a new season record for home runs by a Saluki.
Lis would hit a Grand Slam on Sunday to cap off a day where she set a new single-game record for runs batted in with eight.
The star freshman is currently leading the Missouri Valley in home runs this season with 17 total long balls. She is third in the conference for total bases with 110. She is top 5 in the Valley in both slugging and OPS and top 10 in batting average and on-base percentage.
Lis and the Salukis wrap the season up with a three-game road trip to Normal to face third-place Illinois State.
