BROOKPORT, Ill. (WJPF) – A Florida man was arrested after a DUI crash that happened on the Brookport Bridge.
Police say Carl Poole, 60, of Tampa, rear-ended a vehicle at about 1:15 p.m. Tuesday. The other driver, Fatima Hollis, 48, of Carbondale, was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say Carl Poole was under the influence at the time of the crash and also found in possession of meth, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. He was taken to jail on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence with aggravating circumstances, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree possession of meth, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The Brookport Bridge was closed for about an hour while first responders cleared the scene.
