Sunday evening, Rick Towers, the son of former SIU Football coach Dick Towers, announced the passing of his father on social media.  Dick Towers was 92.

Towers coached the Salukis from 1967 to 1973.  His career record was 29-37-2 at SIU.

Towers led the Salukis to one of their biggest wins of all-time, a 16-13 victory over #8 Tulsa on October 28, 1967.

After SIU, Towers went on to be the Athletic Director at Kansas State from 1981 to 1985 and then the Associate Athletic Director at Iowa State from 1986 to 1989.
