MT. VERNON, Ill. (WJPF) – The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says multiple pieces of potential evidence were recovered in a ground search of the area where a body was found earlier this month.

Searchers combed over an area of fields and woods west of the Interstate 57/64 interchange Tuesday.

The body found on March 21st was badly decomposed and has not yet been identified.
