CHICAGO, Ill. (WJPF) – Former Illinois State Representative Eddie Acevedo has been sentenced to six months in prison on charges of tax fraud.

The Chicago Democrat’s conviction resulted from the same investigation that led to the indictment of former Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan.

The 58-year-old Acevedo, who’s a former police officer, must also pay $37,000  in restitution.
