The Nashville Hornets retook the top spot in this week’s John A. Logan College SI Basketball Coaches Poll, despite last week’s #1 team, Centralia, still holding a majority of the First Place Votes.
Both Pinckneyville and Murphysboro impressed enough to jump up 2 spots each, moving in to #3 and #4 respectively. The Panthers went 3-0 last week with wins over Du Quoin, Anna-Jonesboro, and an impressive defensive display over then #7 Herrin in a 39-19 battle. The Red Devils also impressed with wins over #8 Massac County and Herrin.
The Herrin Tigers and Marion Wildcats were the biggest losers in the poll this week, the Tigers suffered the aforementioned losses on back-to-back nights. Marion suffered a 46-41 loss at Carbondale Friday night. Those losses had both programs slide 3 spots down in the poll.
