CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) — A Carbondale man was arrested Monday on charges related to a stolen vehicle.
Carbondale Police say officers were called at about 2:30 pm to the 900 block of West Main Street after someone reported Andrew Walker, 23, was behind the wheel of the stolen auto.
Walker fled from police on North Oakland Avenue, eventually crashing near the intersection of North Oakland and West Willow, causing property damage. Walker then ran on foot but was caught after a short chase.
Andrew Walker was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, aggravated fleeing to elude, and possession of a controlled substance. He also had outstanding warrants out of Jackson and Union counties.
Andrew Walker was treated for minor injuries he received in the vehicle crash and then taken to the Jackson County Jail.
