Kick off the holiday Season by enjoying one of the most treasured Carbondale traditions! The 30th Annual Lights Fantastic Parade will begin at 6p.m. on Saturday, December 4, and run along Illinois Avenue.
There are several festivities prior to the parade to help you get into the holiday spirit!
SIU Holiday Craft Sale: Shop local for handmade arts and crafts at the SIU Holiday Craft Sale! On Saturday, December 4, the craft sale will be open from 10a.m. – 4p.m. in the SIU Student Center Art Gallery.
Cookie Walk: Before you find your spot for the parade, enjoy the Cookie Walk Scavenger Hunt! On December 4, from 4p.m. – 6p.m., several businesses on and around the strip will offer cookies and refreshments to those who visit while watching the parade and mingling with friends.
Meet Mrs. Claus and Santa’s Reindeer: On Saturday, December 4, from 4p.m.- 6p.m., stop by the Town Square Pavilion to meet Mrs. Claus and live reindeer!
Chili Supper: The Boys and Girls Club of Southern Illinois will serve a chili supper at the Civic Center before the parade from 4p.m.- 6p.m. Adults $7. Kids 12 and under $3. All proceeds benefit the BGCSI!
Letters to Santa: Send a letter to the North Pole! Stop by the Old Train Depot between 4p.m. – 6p.m. on Saturday, December 4, to write and send a letter to Santa Claus!
Alternative Gift Fair: Find gifts that matter and support your community at the 16th Annual Southern Illinois Alternative Gift Fair! Sunday, December 5, from 2p.m. – 5p.m. inside the Carbondale Civic Center.
