CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) — Southern Illinois University Carbondale announced Thursday they’ll award posthumous degrees to four students who passed away this semester.

Keeshanna Jackson, Jacob Jurinek, and Daniel Lobo will be honored during next week’s commencement ceremony. Joseph Ermel will be honored at the May ceremony at the request of his family.

Awarding the posthumous degrees has the support of the SIU Faculty Senate and the students’ college deans.
