FAYETTE, COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) — An Illinois State Police Trooper was hurt when their squad car was involved in a Scott’s Law crash.
ISP says it happened at about 6:00 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 70 in Fayette County. The trooper’s vehicle was fully marked and had the emergency lights activated when a semi veered onto the right shoulder and hit the rear driver’s side of the squad car. The trooper was treated and released for their injuries. The truck driver and a passenger in the truck were also treated and released from a local hospital.
So far this year, there have been 19 ISP squad cars hit in Scott’s Law crashes. 12 troopers have been injured.
