
FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) — Two people were hurt in an accident Friday on Interstate 57 in Franklin County.
Illinois State Police say at about 12:40 a.m. the driver of a 1999 Ford truck left the northbound lanes, crossed the center median, and rolled numerous times. The driver was ejected from the vehicle. The Ford truck was then hit by a northbound tractor trailer.
The driver of the Ford, 33-year-old Kirk Wilson of St. Louis, Missouri, was flown toa regional hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer, 46-year-old James Grimes of Laredo, Texas, was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Kirk Wilson was also cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane usage, failure to wear a seatbelt, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and operating a vehicle with expired registration.
