SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WJPF) — Former Republican state Senator Sam McCann, who also mad an unsuccessful third party run for governor in 2018, has been charged with money laundering, tax evasion, and fraudulent use of campaign funds.
McCann, 51, was charged in Springfield Wednesday.
Federal prosecutors say McCann bought multiple vehicles, laundered money through an Ohio RV rental company, and paid himself with campaign funds up until June 2020.
