WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) — A Marion man received life-threatening injuries Tuesday night in a two vehicle crash on Interstate 64 in Washington County.

It happened just after 10:00 p.m. near milepost 43.

According to Illinois State Police, the driver of a tractor trailer left the road to the right, overcorrected, crossed both lanes of traffic, and then left the road to the left. The truck then re-entered the interstate from the left and rolled, coming to rest in the left lane of traffic.

Travis Akin, 47, was unable to stop his SUV in time and hit the wrecked semi. He was taken to a hospital with life threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer was not hurt.
