Longtime Carbondale Police Chief Jeff Grubbs announced Monday his is retiring at the end of September.

Grubbs has spent 29 years with the Carbondale Police Department, serving as chief the last six years.

The city did not provide a timeline on when a replacement for Grubbs will be announced.
