An idle building at University Mall in Carbondale will soon become the location for an insurance call and claims center.

Centene Corp. is leasing the former K’s Merchandise building for the center.

The call and claims center is expected to generate several hundred jobs, according to city officials.

Reports indicate the $5 million remodeling project will wrap up by Jan. 1, 2019.
