Fired Zeigler Treasurer Ryan Thorpe has been indicted by a federal grand jury on multiple counts of both embezzlement and wire fraud.
According to court documents, Thorpe stole more than $315,000 dollars from the city between March of 2013 and August of 2017.
Prosecutors say he used the money to buy motorcycles, UTV’s, a diamond ring, a portable building — with finished interior — and over two dozen guns.
If convicted, Thorpe could face up to 80 years behind bars.
